The Big Tribute Festival 2022

Plymouth! Get ready to make some noise for The Big Tribute Fest – three days of pure musical nostalgia that’s coming to Central Park (opposite the Life Centre) on 5-7 August!

Billed as “the UK’s freshest weekend festival”, The Big Tribute Fest brings together some of the best tribute acts around, performing hit after hit after hit. And, with a 4,000-capacity tent, there won’t be a muddy field or pair of soggy wellies in sight!

From Elvis and Robbie to Ed Sheeran and Michael Jackson; and from Cher and Katy Perry to Abba and Little Mix, with 80s and 90s tribute bands also performing the top tunes from those decades, the Big Tribute Fest is a must for music fans.

The event, opposite The Life Centre, promises to be very different to other major festivals. The organisers, local businessmen Jack Fry and Dave Monk, want to keep admission prices down to a minimum, while all the quality food outlets and bar are local – again, prices are being kept as low as possible. The tent has open sides in some sections and there will be places to sit outside to enjoy a drink and a meal in comfort.

While all three days are family-friendly, the Friday is particularly aimed at creating a fun family vibe, with face-painting, bouncy castle, and fairground rides.

The full line ups for the three days are:

Friday 5 August – 12 noon to approx 9pm

Saturday 6 August – 12.30pm to approx 10pm

Sunday 7 August – 12.30pm to approx 10pm

Jack, who is MD at the Stoke Bar & Grill: “For years and years, I’ve wanted to do something like this! It’s going to be three days of fantastic music with a family-friendly atmosphere. Dave’s company, Clockwork Audio, who will be supplying the sound, light, and production, cater for top acts all over the UK.

“With the acts, we’ve tried to make the line-up as diverse as possible, covering lots of genres and eras. And they are top quality tribute acts. Navi, the Michael Jackson tribute, is known as the world’s best Michael Jackson impersonator and even got a standing ovation from the man himself. They became personal friends.”

The bar will be selling ice cold draft cider and beer and there will be 10 choices of spirits. Jack said: “You’ll even get ice and a slice of lemon or lime in your gin! We are speaking personally to all our vendors, and we have chosen not to have any national outlets. There is attention to detail that you don’t get at most big festivals.

“And we are not charging festival prices; we are looking at £5 to £5.50 for a drink. This is really, really, important to me, to make this festival as accessible as possible for people. We just want people to come along and have a great time in a friendly environment.”

If the event is a success, Jack has plans to organise three similar festivals in the South West in 2023.
